Yeah, little kids born in 2017 prefer OT Darth Vader and R2-D2 to any prequel or sequel trilogy character. In fact Disney has acknowledged this by coming up with a list of 'pillar' characters the franchise depends on, and all but two are OT. The exceptions, Grogu and Rey, are the black swan and the affirmative action case.
Grogu (Baby Yoda) is the only thing Disney has to show for 12 years of 'creative' effort.
Din (The Mandalorian) is just a chromed Boba Fett, and the series was originally going to be about Boba Fett but had to rebrand for dumb reasons.
