The patriarchy doesn't care whether it's accurate. There are plenty of real life examples of "men" being remembered for their historic achievements, only to eventually have their female identity vindicated by closer scientific study.

The patriarchy celebrates things that perpetuate patriarchical stereotypes. Period.
