A gentle reminder that while surviving and recovering from cancer is an amazing event to be celebrated, it is not a "victory" or a sign of superior strategy, skill, willpower or personality. Taking good care of yourself is important, but a lot of it is a roll of the dice based on random DNA configuration. Rejoice in it, but please don't put it in terms of "beating" vs "losing battles with" cancer. If dying of natural causes makes a person a "loser," I have bad news for most of us.
