On a more serious note: I think the intention, post Department of Education dissolution, is for federal funds earmarked for states will be distributed by another agency (Dept of Treasury or Commerce) until Congress rescinds the funding. I expect we’ll see shenanigans with that money, like withholding it from blue states, etc., but I expect it’ll eventually be put into the kitty for savings to offset tax cuts, which means states will have to pick up the slack. Most states fund schools through property taxes, so I expect we are going to see some further ugliness for home ownership down the line as states pick up that burden. Hopefully I’m wrong.
