Could be. My guess is the psy opp is working as intended. When someone spends their own money on something they believe they have made the correct decision and will defend thier purchase and the motivation behind it. No one like that feeling of buyers remorse, instead of accepting you've been fooled, you double down and try to find the good aspects of your poor decision. There are levels to these operations
