it says it is at that edge and that everything from the great city is reached by canals, just as is true of the location of the concentric circles of the Richat structure
the thing about reaching it from the opposite side had to do with the massive river system... now, what was the name of it... it's described in The Apocalypse of Yajnavalkya - Tamrasset it was called, and it was a massive river like the size of the Amazon, and yes it joins up with the Nile near where it empties into the mediterranean/agean
there was also a massive river that went in the opposite direction from the Atlas Mountains also
if you are interested to learn more and see a metric ton of references to other literature, The Apocalypse of Yajnavalkya is amazing
I'm currently reading The Book of Jubilees, which is a full history of 49 year periods between the time of Adam and Moses, and already it is very interesting to me - it says that Adam and Eve spent 7 years in the Garden of Eden and they were being taught how to farm, as they were required to "till the ground" - you can read it for yourself, that is another book that i was referred to by Apocalypse and it's very much consistent with what it says in there about how Adam was actually a guest of the king "God" who had chosen to teach the people of the region between the mediterranean and red sea how to farm, and was the beginning of agriculture after he was kicked out after his woman stole fruit from a tree that was said to be the exclusive property of the king
Critias clearly says that they were seafarers in general and had massive canals everywhere, and a very strong military
as for the atlantic islands, yes, there is even remnants of pyramids on Tenerife and several others, probably there is traces left here on Madeira and also the Azores
