NEW IN TORNADO CASH:
Last week the Government filed a notice that attempts to prevent a Texas court from ruling on the unlawfulness of placing sanctions on Tornado Cash.
While Treasury removed the software from its sanctions list, it is now actively trying to stop the issuing of a binding court order that would prevent the agency from sanctioning *other* software like Tornado Cash – or even relist Tornado Cash itself.
The notice comes after the Treasury issued a warning for users of Tornado Cash to ‘exercise caution’ when engaging with the software.
What this makes clear is that the Treasury wants to, and likely will, continue its witch hunt on privacy software developers.
This is *not* good news and needs to be fought at all ends. TC’s sanctions reversal is a small win, but the fight for privacy in the US is long from over.
