Question: "Guru's Guru, I’ve been working hard toward my goals, but sometimes it feels like I’m just spinning my wheels and not making real progress. How can I tell if I’m on the right path, or if it’s time to change direction?
"Progress" toward your goals has to be evaluated by you. The wheel of time moves as it moves and you are the player in that for yourself. When you feel that you are not making real progress, use that feeling to consider realignment.
Consider and honestly look at what positive progress you have made. Should you find that progress to not be up to your expectations, then look for strategies that will support, more fully, your goals and realign to that. That is definitely a challenge and you must search your feelings and experience for such guidance.
Perhaps ask yourself why you have the sense that you are 'just spinning your wheels." Analyze that and look for what you might do differently. Look for what it is that is blocking you from 'real progress'. Importantly, don't blame others for such 'blocking'. Always assume responsibility yourself. If it comes up for you that others are holding you back, drop that notion and look for how you can empower those you might hold as such. Give love to others along your path and do what you can do to support them. ... not saying that you don't already do that, but that is key to moving forward too.
As for your last question of how you can tell if you are on the right path, well, I'm again back to 'listen to your heart.' While that might sound arbitrary, it is, in fact, essential. How to do that? That's a lifelong struggle... but add that to your goals!! Some like meditation, some like walking in the woods focusing on a quiet mind. Don't dismiss those as not important. Deep breathing and inner silence open the way. Learn about it if you have not, as it truly is supportive.
