Update. A new editorial in #ScienceMagazine argues that "science is neither red nor blue."

It argues that impartial science should not judge (e.g.) whether river water should go to conservation or irrigation. It should merely try to understand the consequences of each choice. OK. But that example is far removed from cases like #climate where the stakes are much higher and understanding, in the face of distrust denialism, is much harder to divorce from advocacy.
