That's what a recent article headline states, which is very misleading. Since most people won't read beyond the headline, though, here's some context from Bitvocation, where we have been analyzing Bitcoin job data for over a year now.
Let’s take a closer look.
⬇️ WHAT THE REPORT ACTUALLY SAYS
The referenced study doesn’t confirm that 31,000 people work in Bitcoin mining. Instead, it uses "economic multipliers"—counting indirect jobs like utility workers and local businesses, not just mining jobs.
Not just #Bitcoinerjobs.
So, while it's great that *general employment* is growing, hopeful Bitcoiners should take this number with a grain of salt.

📊 At Bitvocation - Career Resources for Bitcoiners, we’ve been scraping Bitcoin job listings for over a year and tracking real #hiring numbers.
📊 Our analysis shows there are less than 80 Bitcoin mining firms in the U.S., employing roughly 9,000 staff.
📊 Across ALL Bitcoin companies worldwide, fewer than 2,000 new actual #Bitcoinjobs were created in 2024—not just in the U.S., and not just in mining.
📊 Even if Bitcoin mining indirectly influenced 31,000 jobs in the U.S., the reality of actual employment in Bitcoin looks very different.
