Taiwan's economy minister Kuo Jyh-huei has stated that the components used in pagers that exploded in Lebanon were not manufactured in Taiwan. The investigation into the explosions has led to questioning of the president and founder of Taiwanese pager company Gold Apollo, as well as the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT, which has a license to use its brand. Reports have also suggested that the Bulgarian company Norta Global may have been involved. Meanwhile, Japanese manufacturer Icom has stated that the walkie-talkies that exploded may be a discontinued model that was exported abroad, including to the Middle East, between 2004 and 2014.
