You can get salt-filters to help with the scent, but I'd thought of twin tanks, one for a settling tank. For a while, I had a magnet in the toilet tank, to catch the iron. The toilet tank can't be used, it won't hold water, those rubber seals have been taken out and scrubbed with a green pad, and only lasted another week. But, it's manageable.
