What "Department of Government Efficiency" really makes me think of, aside from the silly acronym is the "Ministry of Administrative Affairs" that MP Hacker was in charge of in "Yes, Minister" (80s sitcom -- we got it on our PBS station in the USA).
It's the obvious extreme-bureaucracy with a clearly-redundant function, which ironically increases cost and complexity. And, I presume, it was a spoof (I mean, I assume there is no such ministry in the UK?).
