Republicans are more desperate than ever to convince the public that Trump is hugely popular & that opposing him & his policies will be politically disastrous for Dems. He was a historically unpopular president the 1st time around -faces: same widespread public opposition in his 2nd term.

Trump’s approval is weak. A new Marist/NPR poll puts his favorability at just 44%; 49% say they disapprove of him, Economist/YouGov: 45/51 split, & USA Today/Suffolk: 47% each.
