Leaf Lord (npub1jac…zppv) Rasterman (npub1e8v…s7yy) Francis Tylurker (npub1wwx…e6ja) Was for *Israelites* but not about them. It was about God. And it was a way for Him to:
1) make His will known
2) pave the way for the coming of Lord Jesus.
If the OT religion or the OT itself were to be centered around or fully about Jews, then:
1) the books of Job and Jonah wouldn't be there. Also anything related to the northern kingdom of Israel would be ignored post-Solomon, as they weren't the sons of Judah.
2) it would advocate for polytheism. Most jews and their kings in the OT were infidels who either didn't worship God or treated Him like just another deity in the Canaanite pantheon they were worshiping. The OT would also not bash Jews for worshiping other gods.
Instead of how it actually looks like, a Jew-centered OT would spin this narrative: "So Moses had this crazy idea that only the Lord is the true god, but then our later ancestors prayed to Baal and Baal performed some kickass miracles, so we know Baal and the other ones are real as well."
