I've been thinking a little lately about the old argument 'can coding be art'. I used to think it was a silly notion and that while the output of writing code could be thought of as art, the code itself couldn't.

But in an age of increasing layers of complexity, there is value in someone taking the time to work with more rudimentary tools and work things out for themselves, writing their own version of things that we take for granted.
