Hadid's first building was supposed to be a fire station for the Vitra plant at Weil-am-Rhein. It's a gorgeous sculpture, but the fire fighters took one look at it and unconditionally refused to work their, quite reasonably. (It now houses the Eames archive; worth visiting if you're near, also for the rest of the campus)
