After spending an hour going through this in delightful/excruciating detail, I'm suddenly amused by the realisation that we now have perfect trustless betting on-chain with taproot and efficient ZKPs. Maybe this is the *real* solution, instead of tail emission, to Bitcoin's security budget problem - we just need an endless indulgence in gambling addiction!
