Our world is choke full of staggering complexity, and many everyday tools take for granted are beyond comprehension of any single individual. Take for example, a common device such as a cell phone and consider the stunning complexity of its CPU, just a single component!
We navigate this complexity by building abstractions, mental shortcuts that allow us to interact with the world without being paralyzed by it. Yet, we must be aware that these abstractions are never perfect.
