#PennedPossibilities 536 — After the story is all done, how does or should the SC come across to the reader? (Examples: Did they get stronger, weaker, did they grow?)
Here's the hierarchy in the recent works:
MC POV
Series antagonist when not MC
Secondary characters
Background characters
Only 4 gets no real character development. The SA is always making a character of herself and she learns lessons. The SCs almost always end up as mini-MCs. Some get their own side stories or side plots.
In the Reluctant Moon, the lunar natives have "character" but aren't becoming secondary characters largely due to language issues analogous to them speaking Chinese and the MCs speaking English. Hard to get in their head; it's more of an MC guessing really hard and maybe letting the reader deduce ugly truths. As the story progresses, I will see if that changes or even needs to. That's why we call these things works in progress.
