a circle of instances have formed a cult surrounding a blocklist called "the bad space" (TBS). this blocklist claims to be there to fight racism, but is actually weaponized to force instances to conform.
in particular, the blocklist is known for having an enormous amount of transfem instances listed, with no way for us to remove ourselves from the list, except to publicly proclaim that we're racist, and to say that we'll accept their terms.
in this case, a user from kolektiva.social, an "anarchist" instance, criticized TBS. the creator of TBS, Ro, cried racism, and informed kolektiva that if they dont remove the user, kolektiva would be added to the blocklist. note that the post criticizing TBS was not racist whatsoever. the only "issue" is that it critiqued TBS, a project that's designed to "eliminate racism."
unfortunately, kolektiva gave in to the demands, and removed the user.
so, basically, if you have any criticisms regarding TBS whatsoever, your instance will be branded racist, and added to the blocklist.
i was actually hit with accusations from a TBS-affiliated instance last week. i chose not to give into the demands, so im expecting woem.men to appear on TBS any day now.
