I've noticed how comfortable the average burger is with mediocrity in stark contrast to the average immigrant family and my own upbringing.

I've even noticed this in my partner's family. Only difference is that if the roles were reversed and we had that same number and magnitude of fuckups, we'd just be known as drug dealers and criminals.
