I actually think that the approach BlueSky is taking to quote posts is pretty novel and helps greatly address the "dunk" culture that quote-posts threatens to introduce, while still allowing the collaborative context-adding that quote-posts allow for. I know not everyone misses quote-posts here on Masto, but honestly I do; I only ever used it to provide essential context (or attach trigger warnings, etc.) to a post.
