I'm thinking about how often, and for how long, people have referred to how I do things as "different". Compared me equally with person after person in situation after situation. Skill after skill.

Not more experienced, not better, not more skilled. Not expert, not genius. Delicately not worse.

This is not universal. The people I let close don't do this. They remind me I'm expert, better at many things.

But I've had to claw my way here. Screaming. Insisting. I'm 37.
