My favorite local bartender asked me what I've been up this week as I walked in the neighborhood bar: "Oh, putting out Dumpster fires. Remote Dumpster fires, back east."

I showed the bartender a photo of the "Everything is fine" novelty socks a co-worker gave me recently as evidence.

Eyebrows were promptly raised down the bar from, as it turns out, a local firefighter and a wildland fire pilot on break after a (comparatively) calm widfire season.
