In order to have a fair discussion of policy and a marketplace for ideas, there cannot be a central authority which decides what is on the table for discussion and what is off. While it may seem like the answer to anything that crosses the line past what you deem acceptable conversation needs regulation, it must be remembered that your opponent is thinking the same thing. While freedom of speech can make for very heated discussions, push people out of their comfort zones, and at times allow bad faith actors to participate in the system, the cost of establishing a standard where certain speech is regulated is too high.
