A western diamondback rattlesnake greeted me on a hike along the Slaughter Creek trails a couple years ago. I have seen 7 rattlesnakes in 15 years of hiking those trails 2-4 times a week. So I do not see them often. I have not heard of anyone being bitten, though I do see many off-leash dogs and would not be surprised if some of them have been bitten.
