yes the "bazillion nodes and centuries of existence" argument comes across as unconvincing and a bit insincere to me, sure DHT has existed for long, and worked reasonably well for torrents, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will for this specific use case

a bit like using the bitcoin block chain for something new and then saying "it's been proven to work since 2009"
