The problem with not seeking to prosecute those political aides (and policemen) who used insider information to bet on the date of the election, is not the magnitude of the crime (which, given the acres of Tory corruption is relatively minor), its the message that it sends:
corruption is actually pretty easy to get away with....
It may sound bit like the 'broken windows' strategy on local policing, but not prosecuting is an awful example to others!
