You see yourself as a free software hero, ready to do battle against some deluded defender of proprietary software and you’re all ready to rumble? Well sorry to disappoint, buddy. I’ve been a linux* user, including desktop, for 30 years by choice. I prefer any kind of DFSG licensed software in general. I’ve made my living working with mainly free/open software.
Along the way I’ve learned a few things.
One is that there are more important things than software licenses. Read that again. There are often more important things than software licenses even when choosing software. Things that I’m teaching my kids. Things like never listen to pricks on the internet who think themselves morally superior because of the software they have on their computer. Use common sense to evaluate the options. Try to have an understanding of the ways to liberate your data from a program or site, no matter the license. Also don’t listen to pricks.
oh I’m sorry of course I mean “GNU/Linux”
