Well, we chanced to run into an old friend today who is into cars and knows what he's talking about. He took a look at our car engine and said he doesn't believe there is a problem with the head gasket. SO, that would be brilliant, if so... but why did our reliable local garage say so?
This will have to be sorted out next week. I am all for saving over £1000 for repairs.
