I've been buying ebooks through https://www.kobo.com/ whenever I can these days. They come as epubs via Adobe Digital Editions. Calibre can clean up the DRM on them easily. Availability and pricing is on par with Amazon as well.

Epub is much better than Amazon's proprietary azw format, which they keep evolving to add features that only work on Kindles, to keep you locked in. Epub is an open standard that can be used just about anywhere.
