From what the article details, I suspect what happened was this: Ashley Biden left stuff at someone's house when they left. Aimee later moves in and learned a Biden was there and left stuff. Rumaged thru the stuff and found the diary. Sold it off to try and make some money off of a famous person.

And for the crime of embarrasing Joe Biden, Aimee faces prison.
