It has rained a lot here for the past few hours and our native clay compacted soil can not absorb the water.

Only the areas that have been deeply mulched can face such an amount of rain.

I have created a few small no-dig gardens heavily mulched with our homemade compost and those beds have done incredibly well.

Compost is a powerful ally acting as a sponge for the rainwater. It will create a very resilient topsoil.
