One reason I haven't tried setting up my own activitypub server (mastodon or other) is because I'm unclear what the server-side migration options are.

If I spin up a Gotosocial instance, but then determine that the user(s) would be better served with Mastodon, is it possible to do an in-place cutover so that the federated usernames stay connected?

I'm guessing this isn't a thing. But I wonder if that's for protocol reasons, or server software limitations?
