We are so lucky and cannot take for granted the fact that Bitcoin has even made it this far without being taken over by insiders, industry forces, or world governments.
The only thing that keeps it going is the fact that it's hard to change.
Every time we mess with it we risk the only thing that's good about it.
People like to say things like "do you think it's already good enough?" Or appeal to authorities like "The most technical person you know" as if that meant anything at all.
We're not a bunch of babies looking into mother's eyes waiting for the milk of change to flow from her teets.
Bitcoin already does what it's supposed to do.
If somehow by some miracle everyone is persuaded to change something about it then that's great.
But no one can come to you and say "hey this technical guy says this is good so open your mouth and drink that milk little one"
If people don't want it, then good. That's the default and what we should expect. If everyone is too stupid to get it, good. It doesn't matter.
Everything else is a fight for control or what some small group of people decide is best. That's already how the world works and the only thing keeping Bitcoin from being a part of that is the fact it doesn't.
