“Vibe coding is the act of letting an LLM generate the whole damn project. With today’s LLMs, vibe coding any project larger than ~500 lines of code is a recipe for fucking disaster. Digging yourself out of that hole takes longer than simply writing it yourself”
quoting nevent1q…aa7qI wholly agree. “Vibe coding” in the context of ericfj (nprofile…ah9n) ‘s current “vibe coding is a dumpster fire” campaign (which I take a little credit for fueling with lots of garbage and great internet references 😉 ) is to mean “I am using an LLM to generate 90%+ of this entire project’s codebase.”
Using AI to support a craftsperson coder is incredibly valuable and propels our progress forward by a quantum leap.
Vibe coding is the act of letting an LLM generate the whole damn project. With today’s LLMs, vibe coding any project larger than ~500 lines of code is a recipe for fucking disaster. Digging yourself out of that hole takes longer than simply writing it yourself #hottake
Sometimes you need something propped up, or whip up a boilerplate, sometimes you gotta spackle in a file or two, whip up a CSS template, and LLMs are absolutely amazing for these use cases. Error inspection, design discussions, big hairy question marks, bring it on.
