I’m thinking we’re low-key(?) getting to a point where we either have to further centralize or truly decentralize computing enterprises. Like keep with the monoliths of old (hardware, OSes, DB, server farms, etc) or recreate everything a bit more dispersed. There is much that is decentralized already but there is far too much that is centralized or has strong centralizing forces (Email, DNS, Browsers, Apple, M$, AWS, Cloudflare, etc)
The former provides convenience of interaction, simplicity of thought and structure, and imprisonment by ones own technological devices.
The latter is the way to awkwardity of interaction and connectivity, complexity that requires learning and understanding, and freedom from tyrannical abuse.
