Anyone else notice how every restaurant is just the same now?
Margins are too tight to survive if you don’t get the cheapest ingredients so everyone is forced to buy from the same few dominant producers who have the scale to provide a restaurant with ingredients for cheap.
Everyone’s getting the same Sysco truck rolling in every morning to drop off the same meat the same potatoes the same bread every other restaurant in town is getting. The margins are too thin for them to spend on higher quality ingredients and remain profitable.
That’s why everything at similar price levels tastes the same regardless of where you go.
It also forces small family owned businesses to close their doors because they can’t run as efficiently as major chains.
Consumers being forced to tighten the belt on discretionary spending is also forcing centralization in the same direction because everyone’s just looking for the cheapest meal.
Sad tbh but gm #coffeechain
