Had a gril (attractive) ask me for advice as she had started a new workout regime and noticed she was gaining weight. She thought it was "muscle". I told her that if she had figured out how to put on ten pounds of lean muscle in 3-4 weeks she was a physiologic savant. I then asked her how her clothes were fitting and she got uncomfortable.
On further digging her 'fitness instructors' had also told her she needed to be eating 5 times daily, 400-500 calories per meal. Ok. Maybe reasonable for intense HIIT, six times a week. I asked her how often she was exercising
Twice a week
At this point she sees the look on my face and really gets uncomfortable. I sigh.
"You're eating like a bodybuilder, but you're not doing bodybuilder work. Get better instructors."
