I'm not the first to point this out & I will not be the last:
in the next 20 years or so the great baby boomer wealth transfer will accelerate - this will consolidate the wealth of a large(ish) middle class cohort, while others see their wealth dissipated by care costs.
However, overall it is likely to be an engine both of increased inequality & the consolidation of (some) families' economic privilege.
We have a mechanism to reduce this effect: the tax system. But will we use it?
