If landlords buy the social housing (there's a bit of a track record) there will still be a lovely rental exploit. I don't know but every company on earth would prefer a rent (tax), and will buy and restrict access and extract rent.

Envy is easy to exploit envy so i's's all about second homes, or even owning one (too old, sell home for care),

I'm not sure just building more homes will solve this, it's a bottleneck caused by the rental sector. In my opinion.
