The Violent Heart by Comb. I've mentioned already how much I enjoy Yogev Gabay's videos. Through them I have already found one of his band, Hago, which is a cool fusion meets prog metal project. I now have found a second one, which is more decidedly prog metal, called Comb. It's an instrumental band, which I don't particularly like in prog metal normally, but two things make this work: first, unlike other prog metal bands, Comb knows how to keep it short. The longest track on this 5-track EP is just shy of 5mn, and overall they average a little below 4mn. More importantly though, Comb makes those minutes count with numerous changes in rhythmic patterns, keys, melodies and mood. Which makes the lack of vocals perfectly acceptable. My favourite track so far is Parallax, but honestly they're all great. #music #metal #progressive #rock
