What Happened?
Yesterday, we ran a Zap Challenge asking a question about Nostr. The response was overwhelming, and I zapped almost everyone who provided a genuine answer as proof of work. This Zap Challenge note is now the #4 trending 24hr notes on Primal ( Nostr client App, not sure of the algo)
The Idea
The concept is to run similar Zap Challenges on Nostr. These challenges will feature simple questions about Nostr, Bitcoin, or Lightning. Anyone who provides a genuine answer (proof of work) will be rewarded with a few sats from a philanthropy wallet. The challenges can be held daily, every other day, or weekly.
The Benefits
Based on the response to our recent challenge, this approach has the potential to:
Boost the Nostr ecosystem's growth, adoption, and engagement.
Help discover and support newcomers who may struggle with the technical aspects of Nostr and Lightning.
Next Steps and Challenges
Since Christmas 2022, I’ve been experimenting with social initiatives to promote Nostr and Lightning, like paying invoices or zapping newbies. Initially, I funded the philanthropy wallet myself, but many generous supporters on Nostr later contributed.
The main challenge now is funding the Zap Challenges and man efforts. If you like this idea and want to see it succeed, I’ve attached the philanthropy wallet QR code (for Lightning and Onchain donations). Any support you can provide will help me continue this effort and ensure smooth execution.
Why Is This Important?
As we transition from centralized to decentralized social media, it’s essential to offer early adopters a smooth and rewarding onboarding experience. Building an engaging and supportive Nostr community will drive adoption and pave the way for future success stories.
