If you ask my opinion: I keep looking for better tech.
Spent the past ~4 years helping around the BEAM community: https://beam.mw/ because they build private tokens. However, their mining is GPU-based (heavy energy usage). So I also pass my time with the SIGNA community: https://www.signum.network/ because and albeit it is a transparent coin, their mining is based on disk space rather than GPU/CPU mining. This is a big plus for example to mine from cellphones (make mining available to normal people with normal devices). The downside is that large data centers win the mining and leave little for cellphone with only a few hundred GB to mine, worsen by the fact that the mining data is completely useless instead of archiving messages/pics or something usable.
So my thoughts are neither on BTC nor XMR, I'd really be happier to find a coin with privacy that can be fairly mined from phones or browsers. Many people here are forgetting why miners are needed on a blockchain, and why the intention is to motivate normal people into participating on that process.
