Last night's movie was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) starring, Dorothy McGuire, James Dunn and Joan Blondell. It's probably one of my favorite movies depicting an impoverished but kind of plucky family surviving in one of New York's very busy and crowded tenement housing immigrant neighborhoods in the early 20th century. The daughter is really the star of the story.
