At the same time, I recognize that this is nuanced, and it’s not easy.
I had to rigorously ask myself, despite my overwhelming revulsion at some of Trump’s qualities and policies, whether it might be more important to get Bitcoin rolling faster, at any cost, because any politician would continue fucking up the world, regardless of their party: “there is no red, there is no blue, there’s just the state, and then there’s you”, à la walker (npub1cj8…rz4u)
There IS a [somewhat] compelling case which argues that America (as a global superpower) pushing Bitcoin forward will do more good for “all the people” than the impact of any partisan politicians’ other policies. I’ve sat with this idea a lot, and it’s pretty seductive.
I want it to be that easy. But I’m not convinced.
Bitcoin is, at this point, seemingly inevitable. Whether “hyperbitcoinization” happens during this presidential cycle (lol) or over the next fifty years, it’s going to have a tremendously positive impact on human society.
I’d rather not put the cart before the horse, and sacrifice so many other personal freedoms and value sets, by hastily getting down on our collective knees for the first politician who takes a few minutes to watch while someone buys him lunch using Bitcoin.

Honestly, Trump’s newfound support of Bitcoin has effect of exposing so many “LARP”-y bitcoiners. (Pardon the cliche/trendy-cringe phrase, but it does the job).
How anyone can think that he will put your individual rights and freedoms ahead of his own business interests and narcissistic personality disorder (or that his pursuit of self-inflation is somehow worth the costs inevitably imposed on the millions to whom he causes harm) is beyond me.
