Interestingly if I had never charged it and used it as a straight hybrid:
51000miles @ 65 mpge / gallon ==> ~$3136 of gasoline
Makes sense since the sliding scale is linear... but I would have thought the bother of charging would have saved us more than $1500!
==> Hybrid car probably makes more sense than PHEV as the progressive savings for 25 mile charging is not as much as I'd think. If you can get the PHEV for the same price then it makes sense. PHEV puts less wear on the ICE engine too.
