Ardainian Right (nprofile…vwf8) Mr. Mojo Risin' (nprofile…qujm) I was pulling for Mario Odyssey 2, but Mario Kart just makes more sense: It's by far their most popular series now (Animal Crossing is only somewhat close because of its perfectly timed Coof Lockdown release), and they probably had most of Mario Kart 9 finished and ready to release the moment Mario Kart 8 DX stopped selling...which just never happened.
Most, if not all of the 8 DX DLC tracks were probably supposed to be Mario Kart 9 retro tracks, and stuff like the Yoshi's Island track might even have been originally been designed for Mario Kart 9.
