It wasn't the media. Their own press release used the term "copyleft" and made it sound like it was open source. Their license file literally contradicts itself. They have two issues on their Github that go into it.
It's a "source available" license, with some proprietary headers from other vendors that probably shouldn't be in there, released by an incompetent team that doesn't understand licenses, software or PR.
